En el Vientre de la Madre Naturaleza
La obra fotográfica en cuestión es una serie compuesta por tres imágenes en blanco y negro que muestran un puercoespín mexicano (Sphiggurus mexicanus) dormitando en un agujero en el interior de un árbol en la Reserva de la Biosfera Pantanos de Centla.
Las fotografías son presentadas con una técnica de acercamiento progresivo, de tal forma que la primera imagen ofrece una vista panorámica del árbol y su textura, mientras que la segunda se enfoca en el agujero en el que se encuentra el animal. En la tercera imagen, el observador se adentra de forma íntima en vientre del árbol donde encuentra al puercoespín mirándole de regreso; se observa su textura y detalles más finos en un primer plano.
La serie de fotografías tienen la intención de transmitir la tranquilidad y el misterio, característicos de esta especie. Asimismo, brinda una perspectiva única del animal que, en su hábitat natural, suele ser evasivo y difícil de capturar en una imagen.
La elección del blanco y negro como técnica cromática permite acentuar la sensación de serenidad que el animal transmite a través de su descanso y el detalle de las púas que cubren su cuerpo.
La obra retrata el equilibrio de la naturaleza en uno de los parajes más ricos en biodiversidad de México.
Mother Nature's Womb
The photographic work in question is a series composed of three black and white images that show a Mexican porcupine (Sphiggurus mexicanus) dozing in a hole inside a tree in the Pantanos de Centla Biosphere Reserve.
The photographs are presented with a progressive zoom technique, such that the first image offers a panoramic view of the tree and its texture, while the second focuses on the hole in which the animal is found. In the third image, the observer enters intimately into the belly of the tree where he finds the porcupine looking back at him; You can see its texture and finer details in close-up.
The series of photographs are intended to convey the tranquility and mystery, characteristic of this species. It also provides a unique perspective on the animal that, in its natural habitat, is often elusive and difficult to capture in an image.
The choice of black and white as a chromatic technique allows us to accentuate the feeling of serenity that the animal transmits through its rest and the detail of the spikes that cover its body.
The work portrays the balance of nature in one of the richest places in biodiversity in Mexico.
